Soaking Toad

Cane toad (Rhinella marina) - Buenaventura Reserve, Ecuador

The ubiquitous and infamous cane toad, I have found these toads in every central american country I have visited as well as in some areas they didn't belong in (Hawaii and Florida). I didn't see them during my earlier stay in Ecuador but that was due to staying at high altitudes during that visit. These toads can be found in both disturbed and pristine habitat sometimes even at greater densities in disturbed habitat. However this large individual was found in a river surrounded by high quality forest. I believe this one was a male as I had heard some calls from the general area, however I chose not to disturb this individual and examine him/her to determine the gender.
