Inter-species Duo

Harlequin Tree Frog (Rhacophorus pardalis) & File-eared Tree Frog (Polypedates otilophus) - Malua Forest Reserve, Malaysia

The night I photographed these two frogs was actually a pretty slow night atleast in terms of new finds. I was seeing alot of Grass frogs, Harlequin Tree Frogs, and File-eared Tree Frogs. All interesting species in their own right but also all fairly common and ones that I had photographed to my hearts content. The most interesting photos from that night were of these two frogs I found sharing the same branch, these two are unposed and are exactly as found (in-situ). It allows you to see how large the File-eared tree frogs are, atleast in comparison to most of the other tree frog species of Borneo. The Harlequin tree frog is a gliding species that spends most of its time high up in trees and only descends to breed, likewise the file-eared frog also gathers around some of the same pools of water in order to breed, and I was just lucky to spot these two on the same branch as they both sat there not paying each other any attention.
