Assembling Model Ts at Piquette Avenue

Henry Ford’s Piquette Avenue plant could not keep up with the demand for the new Model T after its launch in 1908. Not only did Ford seek larger premises, which materialised in the Highland Avenue Plant, but he and his associates devised new and more efficient methods of production. Thus was born Ford’s moving belt system. Piquette Avenue managed to produce 14,000 Model Ts by the methods shown here, but that was just a small proportion of the 15 million Model Ts that were eventually produced.
