Burgh-le-Marsh artefacts
In private ownership after British Rail closed the East Lincolnshire Line in October 1970, Burgh-le-Marsh once featured a small museum of railway and other artefacts. This museum has closed to the public at the time of my visit, but I was able to snatch a quick view of some of the items on display outside. The Associated Motorways enamel advertisement is a delightful period piece of the late 1930s, featuring Art Deco script and a streamlined coach of around 1937/38.
Associated Motorways was a consortium of coach operators that later evolved into National Express under the aegis of the state-owned National Bus Company.
