DB aristocrat
Portrait of a DB Baureihe 103, for some two decades the imposing flagship of German InterCity services. I snatched this view of 103 104 at Mannheim HbF.
Following four prototypes in 1966, 145 production examples were built between 1970-73. Displaced by the ICE high-speed units from 1991, the class conintued in secondary service until 2003. A total of 17 BR103s escaped scrapping, with five units still operational.
