NVR guest

Making a guest appearance on the Nene Valley is N7 0-6-2, preserved in its final British Railways guise as 69621. This was the only occasion I ever photographed the locomotive, which had been recently restored to steam by the East Anglian Railway Museum. The class originated on the Great Eastern Railway in 1915 and production was perpetuated by the LNER, totalling 134 examples by 1928. The locomotives were closely associated with the intensive suburban services operated out of Liverpool Street Station until displaced by electrification. The final N7s were withdrawn in 1962.
