Stuck in Sunny Scunny
A landslip caused the wholesale cancellation of the Transpennine Express train service via Doncaster, and thus a replacement bus service was provided between Donny and Scunthorpe, where passengers heading further east could continue by train. TPE unit Siemens Desiro unit 185 130 was waiting for us, but was locked out of service. We had to kick our heels for some 40 minutes before being allowed to board the 17.03 departure. Thus I came to take my first ever photograph in ‘Sunny Scunny’, as wags nickname the steel-producing town.
