Unleashed on Glasgow’s roads

Accompanied by their instructor, a group of trainee bus drivers emerge from the Glasgow Corporation Transport Coplawhill training school, getting first-hand experience of driving a large vehicle. L31 (FYS654) carries L-signs to warn the public that the folk at the wheel are still learning their skills. Their steed is a Leyland PD2/25 that entered passenger service in 1956, carrying Alexander bodywork built on Weymann frames. Along with 14 of its sisters, L31 was converted into a permanent training vehicle in 1970. Sadly none survived to be preserved.
