A visit to the People’s Republic
The days when a bus ride in Sheffield cost a mere 2p or was even free, as with the City Clipper service that trialled German and Anglo-Danish bendibuses. A batch of five MAN articulated buses were supplemented by four prototypes, adapted from a model built by British Leyland’s Danish affiliate, DAB (FHE291V). The Leyland-DAB’s went on for further service in Scotland, ultimately ending up in the hands of Stagecoach. The model makes an interesting comparison with a regular South Yorkshire PTE Leyland National.
