Gateway
The Pittsburgh Light Rail network (The T) superseded the old streetcar system in 1984, serving the downtown business district with four underground stations. The system is free within this segment. Siemens provided the original SD-400 LRVs, supplant by similar units from Spanish builder CAF. The present Gateway station opened in 2012, replacing the previous Gateway Center station. An attractive mural on the platform wall depicts scenes from Pittsburgh’s history.
