Les vélibs sont arrivés
I was earlier admiring Neil Pulling's artistic posting of a Bordeaux tram passing a cluster of Vélos Libertés (Velibs), having entirely forgotten that I had attempted a similar shot months before in Mulhouse. This is my effort.
The Vélibs shared community bicycles were pioneered in Nantes back in 1974 but the idea did not take off until Paris launched its scheme in 2007. It has spread to many other French cities, including Nice, and Oslo has also embraced the concept.
Now London is due to follow suit, the launch being scheduled for July 2010.
