The dashed promise of summer delights

A reminder of the days when many Central London bus routes were extended on Summer Sundays far into the countryside. This London General poster dates from 1914. Alas, when summer came that year, war broke out with Germany, men rushed to join the colours, and the bus itself could have been one of the 1,000 or so LGOC vehicles impressed into wartime service with the army.
