When Sartre met Larkin...

...It isn't very widely known, but Jean-Paul Sartre admired the spare and gloomy verse of Philip Larkin and was inspired to make a visit to Hull. His impressions are recorded on this Stepney cycle path. Larkin in turn was very grateful for the gift of a beret, which he wore when cycling to his university library day-job.
