Final Resting Place
The remains of a 1955 International pickup lie in the high desert in a very remote corner of Death Valley near the Jail Canyon Mine. It used to be hard to get here and to the adjacent mine and mining camp by four wheel drive. After a flash flood washed out the road a few years ago, it’s now almost impossible.
On the way out the next day our Jeep broke a steering rod and we had to hike for hours across the open desert with as much water as we could carry to a ghost town for help, but that’s another story. . .
