Metropolitan Cattle Trough

Following my second day at Polegate windmill, I took a little time to explore the town a bit, and was rewarded with the Metropolitan cattle trough at the end of the High Street! It's a simple trough in white fine-axed granite with no fountain attachment, but both cisterns and bollards were still in place. Dog trough underneath but full of earth. No legends other than the Metropolitan standard text. Disconnected and I couldn't see any plumbing or stop tap covers. It was clean and in good condition.

Nearby was an elderly looking metal grit/salt box in a style I've never seen before, and an old-style iron telephone exchange box. Pic taken outside the Horse and Groom pub.
