Marty the Mouse
Meet Marty the mouse. Marty was a young feeder mouse :( and he was rescued from being snake food back in Dec 2014. A friend of mine knew someone who owned a large snake and who fed Marty to his snake. Marty out-ran the snake for 3 hrs and then he laid dead in the cage for an allotted time. Thinking he was dead, they took Marty out of the cage only to realize that he was alive and well. The snake's owner did not have the heart to let the snake have him again and decided that Marty needed to live out the rest of his life as a pet. My friend offered to take care of him, but only until a month and a half ago she couldn't care for him anymore so she asked if I could take him, and so here he is. He's very cute :)
He's very cute, but his urine is quite ripe and his cage needs frequent cleaning. When cleaning his cage, I need to wash everything, the cage bars, his wheel, food dish, hut, etc., with dish liquid, rinse and dry. The only thing that holds the smell of his urine after cleaning is the grey hut. But, today when I was cleaning his cage, I decidied to rub a little coconut oil all over his hut (as it dissolves makeup and oil very well) and then paper towel it off. Well, it worked! It took 90% of the remaining urine odour off of his hut. Left is only a hint of smell which can only be detected if it's right up against your nose.. Not only that, I discovered that Marty likes to eat coconut oil. He was licking the jar and then he ate some off of my finger. :)
