YSD815T Ardrossan Montgomerie Street
An acquired image but one which showsd off nicely the interim depot at Ardrossan in teh 1980s after the closure of the Princes Street Scottish General depot Western realised they did actually need to have buses at Ardrossan to serve various routes emanating and passing through the area. An arrangement was made with Clyde coast member Kenny MacGregor to use a yard he had acquired and eventually the yard and garage was to last till the end of Clyde Coast and the formative years of Coast to Coast, a different owner but many common staff to Clyde Coast. Western's tenancy wasn't for ever and they moved to a different yard near the harbour a few years later.
Now the site and Montomerie Street is to go for a new road and has been vacated by Coast to Coast.
The bus in the view was one of four rather bland Seddon Pennine V11s new at Ardrossan for the Glasgow service which proved workhorses though fairly characterless. This later donned the black white and grey stripey livery but I did prefer it in the red and cream. Some of the batch found new owners but I don't think this one did. The remnants of the old Shell Mex terminal can be seen behind the garage all of it now gone for housing as the once industrial heart of Ardrossan became residential.
This is taken on a visit of some kind and bought with copyright a while ago
