this male had made a kill, a wildebeest which he had dragged under the tree under which he lay in the shade.

For 2 days he mainly slept in the shade, probably feeding at night on the carcass, so he mad a wonderful photo study but a stone's throw from the side of the road!

 

Note the very black mane which is a characteristic of the Kalahari male lions!
