DSLR Mirror Flip-Up Mechanism
Part of the insides of a DSLR camera I recently took apart:
Just before the shutter opens to capture an image, the mirrors that reflect light into the viewfinder and the autofocus system must rapidly move out of the way so that light can reach the camera's image sensor. When the shutter closes, the mirrors must immediately return to their original position. This picture shows a close-up view of the mechanism that drives the motion of the mirrors.
