Del Monte Blvd at Palm Avenue, Marina, CA USA

In Marina, the sidepath runs along Del Monte Boulevard. At its intersection with Palm Avenue, bicyclists face a stop sign and must cross Palm in a crosswalk controlled by a pedestrian signal. Which traffic control device does a bicyclist observe, the stop sign or the pedestrian signal?

Crosswalks are always a dangerous place for bicyclists, and particularly so for bicyclists riding against adjacent street traffic. Also note that the pedestrian pushbutton is on the wrong side of the path for southbound bicyclists.

Note the car turning right on red. This is prohibited in Europe except where permitted by a sign, the opposite of the United States.
