Quickbeam 2016 update
I almost sold the Quickbeam a few years ago but it was reborn a year ago when I built a new wheel based on the Sram Automatix 2 speed hub, which transformed the riding experience. After a serious bike accident early this year, followed by 40 pounds of weight loss and a simultaneous increase in fitness level I felt I was ready to bring this back to its pure form as a ss/fixie. The Automatix went to the new SimpleOne, and with a few updates this became a super fun bike again:
- Rebuilt wheels using the Phil Wood hubs using Dyad rims.
- 38mm Barlow Pass tires (Extralight!)
- 42t chainring with 17t fixed cog and Eno 18t freewheel.
- Albastache bars (I love these bars!). That is grassy green Newbaum's with many coats of clear shellac.
