Hungary - Budapest - St. Stephen's Basilica

During our stay in Budapest we attended some lectures by professors of the Central European University, at a stone-throw of the St. Stephen's Basilica. One sunny morning, I jumped into the church after the lecture, to get some shots from the interior.

St. Stephen's Basilica

One of the landmarks in Budapest, 96m tall St. Stephen's Basilica is the main catholic church of Budapest. It is dedicated to Saint Stephen I, Hungary's first king (c. 975-1038), whose mummified right arm has been saved and is being kept in the reliquary of the basilica.

While the interior can be quite dark and gloomy at times, with the right angle of the sun, the dome gets filled with light, spilling out into the church.
