Hungary - Budapest - Heroes' Square
This is my first upload from the study trip we did to Budapest, Hungary last week.
On our first afternoon we were taken on a guided bus tour of the city. Not my kind of visiting a city, but hey, it does get you around in (arguably) less time than you could do by foot and subway.
Heroes' Square
As one of the most important squares of Budapest, Heroes' Square or Hősök Tere lies at the end of Andrássy Avenue. This boulevard can be compared to the Champs Elysées in Paris and is a Unesco-protected World Heritage Site.
The square is flanked by two major museums, namely the Museum of Fine Arts and the Palace of Art.
In the middle of the square rises the central column of the Millenium Monument, erected for the 1000th anniversary of Hungary in 1896. Behind it, two colonnades contain statues of the most important players in Hungarian history.
