Black and white.

It's where all photography started, and despite the fact that almost all pictures taken today are in colour, old-fashioned black and white still has this kind of mystical attraction to many.

Yet, if you think of it, there's almost as many shades and variations in black and white as there are colours. With this first purely black and white collage I would like to present some exquisite blackness, courtesy of the photographers below.

Girl gets ready for the night,

incense burning in a shrine

Through her window she looks out,

thinking of the night ahead

Lonely figure stalks the streets,

I wonder where he goes tonight

In deserted sites he dwells,

church and underground garage

Short-cutting through back alleys,

her fate she still cannot escape

Running up the steps in boots,

he softly closes in on her

A cellist blind and unaware,

plays her last danse macabre

Wretching in remorse he swears,

this one was the last...once more
