Homemade Chana Masala

In further exploration of indian cuisine, I made a 4-5 serving batch of Chana Masala, A northern indian chickpea curry. I thought it was delicious and definitely hearty.

 

Recipe:

 

1 can chickpeas (garbanzo beans)

1 can diced tomato

1 potato, cubed

1/4 cup chopped cilantro

1/2 onion, diced

2 clove garlic, minced

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 tablespoon ground corriander

1/8 teaspoon cayenne

1/4 teaspoon ginger

1/4 teaspoon cumin

1/4 teaspoon tumeric

1/2 teaspoon garam masala

1/2 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 cup water

2 cup milk

 

Sautee onions and garlic in oil in a large pot for a few minutes, then add the rest of the ingredients and bring to a boil, then cover and lower the heat to a simmer for 30 minutes stirring occasionally, then serve and enjoy with rice or bread.
