Gaelic Football

Action from My local clubs St.Maurs GAA Club U/17 Gaelic football league match against O'Tooles GAA club. St, Maurs in Maroon and Gold jerseys.

Gaelic football is popular sport played in every village in Ireland along with Hurling Ladies gaelic and Camogie.

Games are 15 a side and played on a pitch about 50 meters longer than a soccer pitch. There is a lot of physical contact and is probably best described as a cross between soccer and rugby. You can run with the ball once you hop/bounce or solo/toe tap every 4 steps. There are a lot of scores in Gaelic unlike soccer and the ball can be moved a lot quicker.

If you have access to uTube have a look at some of the videos and the scores and high fielding. This weekend it was announced that Gaelic Games is one of the fastest growing sports in UK with 400,000 new children playing.

My team won this match by 5gl 11pts to 1gl 8pts
