Sprinter Ice Cream

With more than a passing interest in Ice Cream vans, not just due to the product they sell, but that helps, I couldn't resist this shot of a 2001 Mercedes Sprinter in modern day Mr Whippy livery taken in The Quarry Shrewsbury today. In the background is St.Chads church built in 1792 with its distinctive round shape and high tower which was designed by the Scottish architect George Steuart. The churchyard was used in the filming of the 1984 film "A Christmas Carol" and the gravestone of Ebenezer Scrooge still remains. The half-timbered building behind the van is the Quarry Lodge which was the home or renowned TV Gardener Percy Thrower between 1946 and 1974 whilst he was Shrewsbury Borough Council's Parks Superintendent
