Local 040

While headed to Pennsylvania for a fire antiques show, a tip from a friend and fellow railfan told me that CSX Local L040 was headed South on the River Line and would likely be working Tri-Seal Plastics in Blauvelt, New York. We set up at the crossing as MP22 and waited, catching I162 first. After a bit, L040 showed up and is seen in this photo coming up the steep grade of Tri-Seal's siding with three cars. The crew would then add one of those cars to their train and shove the other two cars back into the siding before proceeding back to their train light power. Locomotive 8400 is a rebuilt SD40-2 that was built as a straight SD40 for Western Maryland Railway in July 1969.
