Nighttime In Cumberland

Chesapeake & Ohio 1309 is an H-6 "Mallet" with a wheel configuration of 2-6-6-2. It was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1949 to haul coal from the fields in West Virginia. It only served seven years until it retired in 1956 as the railroad transitioned to diesel locomotives. The locomotive sat on display at the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore until being acquired by the Western Maryland Scenic Railway and returned to service in 2021. Normally the locomotive sports the Western Maryland fireball logo but it was changed into the original C&O paint for a series of Lerro Photography charters in February 2023. The train is set up for a static night photo session at Cumberland Station. Lighting was done by Pete Lerro.
