Haters Gonna Hate
Since all of the photos from this charter have been popping up from various photographers there have been a lot of complaints about the excessive smoke. While I do understand that actual N&W rules would have prohibited this type of activity, people need to understand much of this was done for effect. Multiple run-bys were conducted. Some had clean stacks, some had heavy smoke and most had something in between. The 611 crew is a dedicated group of trained, professional steam railroaders. Nothing was done that would harm the engine. I have heard people say that the men who ran these machines in their heyday would be disgusted at this. Would they though? Or would they be happy that they weren't melted down into razor blades?
