Goodbye Old Friend

After a few trips to the West Slope, one of my favorite spots quickly became Lilly. Easy parking, no worry of trespassing, constant train action and steam railroading era Pennsylvania Railroad signals. The color position light signals along with all the others on the line have been living on borrowed time. Mandated positive train control, which comes with cab signals have been threatening the old CPLs for some time. On a perfect Spring morning an Eastbound stack train charges up Track 3 as they call "clear, 254 one East." Just a couple weeks after this photo, these signals met the torch along with all the others on this stretch of the West Slope. A sad day indeed.
