Saw-scaled Viper - Echis carinatus
This is a common viper throughout India, and is the smallest member of the "big four" Indian snakes that are responsible for causing the most snakebite cases and deaths. This is of the subspecies E. c. . sochureki, of western deserts of India. They also use side winding locomotion. When agitated they rub their scales together to make a hissing sound, a warning to stay away.
