What Does It Take To Build a Bank?
This brochure commemorates the opening of the Republic Bank Tower in June 1954 and contains more information than you'd ever want to know about this grand mid-century building. For example, did you know that there are 2,735 windows in this structure, that 12,587 tons of structural steel was used in its construction, that the bank originally occupied 178,792 square feet of space, and that four kinds of marble and extensive use of Cold Springs Red granite can be found throughout the structure?
There's also a bank directory in the booklet, and you can find such interesting departments as the Addressograph, Central Index File, Tabulating, and the Tube Relay areas, all located on the fourth floor. Addressograph ... very interesting!
