Watercolour of Hartlebury Castle

Hartlebury Castle in Worcestershire was until recent times the the official residence of the Bishop of Worcester. It is an imposing sandstone building and reminder that the Church of England was a powerful player in our history until at least the era of Henry V111 who removed much of its wealth to use for his own purposes in the 1530's - with the assistance of many of England's most powerful families.

The long gallery contains the stories of many of the powerful clergy who lived here.

As you go round many of the digital portraits on the walls talk to you - and to each other - as you draw near.
