Just down the road from Cadbury's factories - and the spaciously laid out housing - are a few streets of late Victorian vernacular architecture, much denser, but still looking good to me on this Autumn morning. These streets are off Bournville Lane although there are many like them in Birmingham.
The number of cars suggests that many locals are using public transport to get to work, or walkin - there is a railway station close by, while Birmingham University and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, which together must employ at least 50000 people, are no more than a mile away. And Cadbury's is even closer.
