Springtime in the Malverns, view of North Hill from the Tank Quarry

The older I get the more I am interested in the back story of photos - especially of landscape, since, geologically speaking any photo will only tell you about the last five minutes. The rounded hill is North Hill, south west of Worcester, the most northerly of the Malverns, as you might expect. It is mainly composed of hard granite and diorite, formed thousands of feet below one of an arc of volcanoes 680 years million years ago at the edge of a giant super continent. It has been calculated that the location then was close to what is now the Antarctic circle. It has got about since then.
