Book

I've read this dense and now esoteric book by the German writer/assassin Ernst von Salomon. Von Salomon was a complicated, multi-faceted, yet jaded, human being who has always kept me thinking. The photo is of an edition published in the early 1950s. I have much to say about this book, which is a well-written, well-embellished, and witty memoir of his life in the early 20th Century. He rails against the treatment he and his wife received from American occupation authorities, though I have little sympathy for him, considering the Nazis built their strength on the backs of willing, yet unaligned, German nationalists like von Salomon (for example, he was among the Freikorps and helped to assassinate Walther Rathenau), even if he disavowed any connection with the Nazis.
