These are four of the many little studies I do just to keep me thinking abstractly. When I turn to realistic subjects, the brain-training that these exercises provide make me automatically pick out the compositional elements that will pull the subject together into a painting.
They are also a good use for mat board scraps. These are about 4.5 X 5 inches and take about ten minutes each. Viewed large they are about actual size.
