BIRMINGHAM CITY TRANSPORT CONTINUATION TICKETS
Return fare system available to workmen compulsary rehoused in newly built estate on the fringe of the City where a feeder bus service was provided to link with the 'main line' tram services, thus allowing them to travel at the (lower) tram fares.
Reading left to right:
(Nm3480) issued from the Estate to the connecting tram stop.
(Zm3279) issued on board the tram in exchange for the first ticket.
(Vm7280) issued on board the returning tram in exchange for the second ticket.
(On5202) issued on the final bus journey to the estate in exchange for the third ticket.
The first three tickets were retained by the respective conductors on the second, third and fourth journeys to be paid in as cash.
Confusing? Maybe it is at first but it was certainly effective!
