A typical still life by William Henry Hunt from his peak period. What sets it apart from so many others are the extremely fresh, totally unfaded colors. Hunt's small watercolors were often kept in folios with other drawings and watercolors and would only be exposed to light when actually being viewed by their owners. This could explain why a few of Hunt's watercolors are in such superior condition to so many which were obviously framed, hung, and exposed to light for over a century.
