Provenance:

Probably (S) Foster's, 5 Dec 1863, Lot133 (P) £157 10s Graves;

Brassey(S) 20 Feb 1904 (13 X 8 1/2 in.) (P) 40 gns.

(S) Christie's London, 21 March 1989, Lot 160 (P) £6,000*, $10,319 by the present owner.

The model depicted in this watercolor seems to be the same as the model Hunt painted in other works, including Boy with Shrimp Baskets (1836) and The Artist, probably from the late 1830s. As I discussed more fully elsewhere, I suspect that the boy is Hunt's nephew, also named William Henry Hunt.
