This is another example of a faggot (stick) gatherer who, this time is shown on a beach. It and the other depictions of faggot gatherers shown in the album which are also painted in Hunt's mature style for figure paintings, were all undoubtedly painted at Hastings. This watercolor has the appearance of being painted in a studio, although the model was more likely a local resident or paid model rather than Charles Steadman, Hunt's brother-in-law.
