Fig 18b William Henry Hunt, Chatsworth, The Library, 1828

This is another good example of the type of work which would have been difficult to paint without the benefit of a viewing device, such as a camera obscura or, more likely, a camera lucidia, the name given to a variation invented by Cornelius Varley, the brother of John Varley, to whom Hunt had been apprenticed.
