OLD PARKVIEW BRIDGE
This post card,which is on the Shasta Historical Society's web site,is one of the many I have downloaded of Redding's Parkview bridge. The center concrete pier is still there and the run at its base is still home to some gigantic native rainbow trout.
I bet that when this photo was taken the stench of dead salmon was near overpowering. These river banks are now mostly occupied by single family homes that will someday have to put up with this smell when our historic salmon runs return.
You see I am an optimist. Someday , I truly believe, this will happen since we have started to see a reverse in the down ward trend.
