Cork City Marathon, 2009 - Smiling through it all!
Such a cute smile, through the pain barrier!
Yesterday, 1st June, '09, saw the third running of the revamped Cork City Marathon.
I frequently complain about the Irish weather, but ironically it was almost 'too nice' yesterday (for running a marathon!), with temperatures hitting 28 degrees C (82F) which is extremely hot for Ireland. I was almost tired watching it, so I've got a huge admiration for those who took part.
Many competitors ran for the challenge in itself, but a number also ran in support of various charities, so a double "well done" there.
For those familiar with the area, these photos were taken at the end of the "Straight Road", near the turn-off for the "Anglers Rest".
That was approximately at the 20 mile (32km) mark, and the photos were taken with the race in progress between 3 to 4 hours.
If on the off chance, anyone recognises themselves, let me know and I can send on a larger version of the file.
