Hiking the Wave, Vermilion Cliffs, Az
The hike to the Wave is a long trip. It requires a thorough planning, as it is in the desert, so remember, it can be deadly! You need to have 3-4 liters of water with you, food for the entire day, and your photographic equipment, of course. To make things easier, I can tell you, that there is no real trail, so often you have to relay on your own knowledge and senses. You need to have a permit to visit the place, and it is an ordeal to get it. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has a lottery system, and we were so lucky to win it to have an opportunity to hike there. Terrain is very rugged and dry. The hardest is to find the Wave, when you are about 250-500 feet away from your goal! Many people do not find it, and sadly, they are forced to go back without seeing it.
