Day 329-Today is John Cusack's birthday so I pulled this one. I posted it already with the passing of John Mahoney in my last 365 but no matter. This is one of my Top 5 favourite John Cusack movies of all time. I have such an admiration for this movie that I revisit it all the time. This movie is also a movie that has an innocence about it despite what happens. Its also the first place Id ever heard the term "ageist", in regards to having ambivalence towards old people (that has shifted into just plain not liking old people at all, for the most part with a few exceptions). When I worked at the video store back in 2000-2003, a woman, about middle aged or a little older, came in and wanted suggestion for a movie. I took her to this one and told her all about it, without spoilers, and she took it home. A few days later ic ame back, and a beautiful had written note was in it complimenting me on the selection and how much she enjoyed it. That was one of the only times that ever happened so much admiration for this movie, as I said. It doesnt seem dated at all, save for the boom box but even that is kind of retro now, and I think that is because its about people. That kind of thing just doesnt change.
HBD John!
