Day 285-Amber Tamblyns Birthday
Day 285-Today is Amber Tamblyn's birthday and if you know me, I am a huge fan of her work. I have met her twice in my life and both times have been magical. I decided to do a TRIPLE feature for her special day, both Sisterhood movies and a scary film that she is in.
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 1 & 2: I adore these movies and def Amber as Tibby, is one of my favourite parts. She has some of the best lines and seems to be the levelheaded one of the group. I hadnt read the book but I do like how each of the girls has their own personality and each actress gives a great performance as their character. The sequel is golden time and I have to say it is one of the tear jerkingest movies I have ever seen. Still, as far as accessibility goes, its a wonder more movies werent made and how this isnt a current kind of trend. Def end of an era for these types of movies. Its sweet and innocent but still has that tinge of burgeoning adulthood and friendship that is missing from a lot of movies now.
2) this one is a weird one. I think I got it from my video store first and really enjoyed it. Joel plays this man who works in an office building with a friend, Zachary Levi, and Joel paints but we keep seeing this girl, played by Amber, who is like his muse or something. Its hard describe and you have to see it to really understand it. It features a side of Amber I hadnt seen at that point, a semi nude Amber. Its tastefully done but wow. She plays her character masterfully and always puts that emotion and depth into her character, as she does with all her work, not just acting; her poetry and prose is equally powerful.
I feel lucky to even have gotten to talk to her and even gotten ripped on by her, playfully of course, so HBD AmTam! One of my favourite Amber's in my life. <3
