Sgt._Johnson
29 January, 1944- Cam's Saddle, Shaggy Ridge
Pvt. Jack Wright
7th Division
After "the Pimple", we were told to take up defensive positions at the newly taken "Cam's Saddle" while the rest of the division clears the rest of Shaggy Ridge. Fine by me, I'm sick of clawing my way up all these mountains that just seem to climb straight up into the sky.
I can't quite say it's been a quiet past few weeks. Every once in a while, we'll have to deal with a Japanese night raid, but they have just as hard a time getting up the mountains as we did.
More than anything, though, the constant roar of our artillery hitting the other hills keep us on edge. Thanks to not having any artillery at all at Kokoda, it still amazes me we're able to bring this many guns down on one target.
I hope they'll be done softening them up soon, I'm getting tired of having to drag supplies up here.
