Llanberis lake - Llyn Padarn

While we waited for the time our train was due to take us up to the summit of Snowdon, we had a delightful ride on a steam train round this lake - but flat, and shorter than the one up Snowdon, naturally. It was really lovely ! Fine views of the surrounding Snowdon range. Everything had that emotive 'steam train' smell ! Llanberis village itself has a wonderful atmosphere - such a gentle and happy feeling. Everyone was so friendly towards Margaret and me. We met a delightful and intelligent elderly man who owned the local craft shop who didn't 'push' us to buy anything. I don't think he'd cut his hair or his beard for about 10 years. Wonderful ! A cafe attached gave us the opportunity to sample a cup of tea (served properly with cups and saucers) and Welsh ice cream.

The Llanberis Lake Railway is a 1ft 11¹⁄₂ inch narrow gauge railway that runs for 2.5 miles along the northern shore of Llyn Padarn in north Wales in the Snowdonia National Park. I realise that the geotag isn't very accurate, so if anyone's interested in a trip:

Address: Gilfach Ddu, Padarn Park, Llanberis, Caernarfon LL55 4TY.

~ Oh, I should say this was processed in Topaz Studio and then a bit of dodging and burning done in PicMonkey. ~
